Introducing Deborah Wilde
We’re kicking off #RubOneOutBingo with Deborah Wilde, author of The Unlikeable Demon Hunter series. If you like irreverent urban fantasy with a badass heroine and steamy sex, keep reading. More about Deborah:
A global wanderer, hopeless romantic, and total cynic with a broken edit button, Deborah writes urban fantasy to satisfy her love of smexy romances and tales of chicks who kick ass. This award-winning author is all about the happily-ever-after, with a huge dose of hilarity along the way. “It takes a bad girl to fight evil. Go Wilde.”
Take it away Deborah!
Exhibitionism & The Unlikeable Demon Hunter
One of the best things about writing and reading romance, IMHO, is the absolute lack of real world consequences. Want a threesome without worrying about when and how to jump in or too many arms? How about going down on someone in a movie theatre (though really when you factor in parking, ticket prices, and oh yeah, missing the movie, this better be one hell of a bj) without being banned for life?
Or my favorite: having sex in public without fear of ending up on YouTube.
There is something so incredibly erotic about taking an act of ultimate intimacy and playing it out in public, but for me, there was another reason to write the park scene in The Unlikeable Demon Hunter.
When Nava starts this series, she is a hot mess. And happily so. After some pretty profound disappointments in her life, her fuck ‘em and leave ‘em attitude has given her a much needed illusion of control. But now she’s met her match in Rohan who just keeps getting through those walls she so carefully erected.
So when they have sex for the first time, Nava’s self-preservation instincts kick in and she’s determined to suck every ounce of intimacy out of it and make it her dream sexual encounter: no kissing, she calls the shots, and it’s even in a park in the middle of the city. Pure hook-up achievement unlocked!
Except, the unexpected flip side of successfully getting what should be her dream sexual encounter, is being laid bare. That very lack of intimacy unsettles her tremendously. Now, she’s feeling raw and she’s not in her bedroom or some other enclosed space where she could hide. Through the very act of being public, she’s heightened her discomfort.
The setting here was key to her emotional journey in this scene, because she had to face herself within the wide world. There was no more sense of illusion and she didn’t control squat.
But while the sexytimes lasted? Hell, yeah, sex in public is hot. Especially if you don’t have to worry about going viral.
Thanks for sharing your inspiration behind this very hot scene between Nava and Rohan!

Rule breaker, magic wielder, hot mess: meet our best chance at survival.
Can a foul-mouthed, romance-impaired heroine with no edit button face her worst nightmare … a purpose?
When Nava half-drunkenly interrupts her twin’s induction ceremony into the Brotherhood of David, she expects to be chastised. What she doesn’t expect is to take her brother’s place among the previously all-male demon hunters.
How does a smart-ass, self-cultivated hot mess even fight demons? Especially demons who are doubly motivated; bonus points for killing the first female hunter.
Now she’s on a mission to test her mettle, but her Brotherhood-appointed babysitter is distractingly hot. When you combine charisma and hard abs, how’s a girl to focus and what will it cost her in the end?
Odds of survival: meh.
Odds of hooking up with a smoking hot rock star before she bites it: much better.
Leonie Hendricks: Demon P.I.
It takes a demon to catch a demon.
Got a dispute with another demon and killing them just won’t solve it? Leonie Hendricks gets results, no matter what the cost.
Even if her life-long internal battle with her non-human side is seriously taking its toll.
A new case throws Leonie back into the arms of the man who broke her heart. While she’d rather stab him and get on with her life, her professional principles demand that she hunt down her client’s fiendish assailant before innocent humans get caught in the crossfire.
But when things take a sinister turn, Leonie finds herself in a deadly fight not just for her heart, but for her very soul.
The stabbing, however, is still on the table. A girl’s got to have a Plan B.
***Please note: While this can be read as a standalone adventure, this story is best read AFTER the Nava Katz series as it builds on events in those books.
