Whether you’re a fan of Fifty Shades of Grey or hate it, there’s not doubting that we love romances with dominating power plays in the bedroom. I haven’t seen the either film versions of the trilogy, but I’ve been keeping busy reading my share of books with hot sex.
Not sure what to read after Fifty Shades of Grey? Armed with recommendations by our Bawdy Bookworms Insiders and my personal reading list, I’ve put together this reading list. If the perfect of combination of love, romance, and powerful sex, you’ll want to add these books to your library.
Must Read Romances That Are Hotter Than Fifty Shades
Recommended by a Bawdy Bookworms Insider, Club Shadowlands by Cherise Sinclair is the first of the Masters of Shadowlands series. Jessica Randall, a professional woman, accidentally discovers a private bondage club. Her shock eventually changes to arousal–and Master Z is ready to help unleash her inner submissive.
Several friends and Insiders have recommended Sylvia Day’s Crossfire series to me. You’ll want to read these in orders, so start with Bared to You. Both Eva and Gideon are complicated and flawed–and they set each other on fire. Can they overcome their demons (and traumatic pasts) to let the other into their hearts?
Liberating Lacey by Anne Calhoun is one of my absolute favorite erotic romances. Besides having a hot cop who’s not afraid to use his handcuffs in the bedroom, I love this book features an older heroine (with a younger man!). Did I mention that the sex and power play is hot, hot, hot?
Cherise Sinclair receives another vote from our Insiders. For those who like a more rustic location, Master of the Mountain takes our heroine to a mountain lodge vacation with her lover’s swing club. She’s convinced that plump and boring, but Logan knows otherwise. And he’s ready to prove it to her.
Our Winter Book Club discussion of Nothing Between Us by Roni Loren has convinced me to read the rest of her Loving on the Edge series. The series revolve around different characters who are members of a private BDSM ranch. Roni Loren has a way of drawing you into her characters’ emotions that make the sex even more powerful.
The Surrender Trilogy by Maya Banks tests the boundaries of desire–and love. In each Letting Go, widow Josslyn is ready to move forward by exploring her desire for dominance. Little does she know that her husband’s best friend Dash has held a flame for her and is more than happy to show her the ropes to dominance and submission.
Have you read these books? Which ones would you add to this list?
I love Club Shadowlands. Recently I enjoyed Punishing Portia by Darling Adams and I’ve just finished The Velvet Chair by CP Mandara, it blew my sockjs off! 😉
