Five Erotica Stories I Can’t Get Enough Of

I’ve been editing erotica anthologies for the last 15 years, and in that time have chosen hundreds of stories for over 60 books. I treasure each of them in my own way, but some are extra special, ones I recommend to anyone, whether you’ve read erotica before or not. Here are five that have stood out for me that I reread regularly.

“Starstruck” by Lazuli Jones

in Best Women’s Erotica of the Year, Volume 1

Best Women's Erotica Vol 1

This story features is set at Comic-Con, and is about a middle-aged woman encountering her longtime actor crush, who had starred on a TV show as a sexy superhero and been the object of her affection. Now, he’s just as sexy and read for more than just signing autographs. There’s a lot of humor in this story but also this swish fulfillment that answers the question, What would you do if the person you’ve been dreaming about for decades was actually in bed with you?

“Essential Qualities” by Alyssa Cole

in Best Women’s Erotica of the Year, Volume 4

Best Women's Erotica Vol 4

The theme for this anthology is outsiders and risk, and romance novelist Alyssa Cole gives that a science fiction/fantasy spin with a story about a woman who uses artificial intelligence to create a robot as part of her job. She does such a good job though that he winds up becoming close enough to human that he becomes her partner. Ian is both incredibly sexy and manages to fall in love with her, something she didn’t program him to do. He’s also capable of being sensitive and excels at talking dirty in addition to being an amazing lover. Cole strikes the perfect blend of heat and passion and emotion. He’s definitely the hottest robot I’ve ever read about.

“Chemistry” by Velvet Moore

in Orgasmic: Erotica for Women

Orgasmic: Erotica for Women

The premise of this anthology was that all the stories were about female orgasm. This one wowed me because it’s about a woman with a very specific fetish: in this case, chemistry. So often we read about men with fetishes that I relish any time I get to read about a woman unabashedly pursuing hers. Plus I almost failed chemistry in high school, so I’m especially fascinated, and Moore sets the scene perfectly, including all the senses and how a chemistry lab is where she gets most aroused and how one particular scientist presses all the right buttons for the protagonist.

“Remote Control” by Logan Zachary

in The Big Book of Orgasms: 69 Sexy Stories

Big Book of Orgasms

Humor is something I love to see in erotica, when it’s done in coordination with the erotic elements, not at the expense of them. In under 1,200 words, the author manages to take the reader into a fantasy world where a magic remote control can change features, hair color and gender. This provides a vivid utopia where the couple rediscover each other in new forms. Ths story both hot and thought-provoking.

“My Life as a Vibrator” by Livia Ellis

in Come Again: Sex Toy Erotica

Come Again: Sex Toy Erotica

I had a tough time picking a favorite from this book because all the stories explore one of my favorite subjects, sex toys, in playful ways. This story, from the point of view of a vibrator, going from a factory to a birthday party with a very special woman eager to test it out, both on her own and with a female lover, is a delight. It’s sly and sexy at the same time.
