About Thien-Kim Lam, Founder

Thien-Kim Lam, Bawdy Bookworms founder and Chief Erotica Officer

Thien-Kim Lam is the founder of Bawdy Bookworms, a subscription box where romance books are paired with erotic toys. The curated boxes are the perfect partnership of Thien-Kim’s love of romance books and her passion for empowering women to embrace their sexuality.

After discovering romances as a teenager, Thien-Kim has been devouring smart, sexy books. Years later, instead of sneaking around to purchase and read them, she’s helping more women discover fun, steamy books and encourage them to try out new erotic toys.

Not only does she read them, Thien-Kim writes romance, too! Her debut book Happy Endings from Avon Publishing will be available in May 2021.

Fave place to read sexy stories: on the couch with a bar of dark chocolate and a glass of malbec.

How Bawdy bookworms Was Born

It all started with a Facebook message

The first was from a close friend, “Kim, I just finished  Fifty Shades of Grey. What should I read next?”

More messages arrived from other friends:
“What are ben-wa balls?”
“Does that really feel good?”
“Where can I get that toy?”

It was more than private messages or texts. Anytime I ran into a friend, they whispered questions and comments about BDSM. Always in hushed tones.

My friends knew my years of experience selling sensual adult toys at in-home parties. I was their resident expert. I happily answered their questions. I recommended my favorite erotica titles. I explained how ben wa balls worked.

Reading about hot sex can be super, uh, hot. So why not create a new kind of book-of-the-month club?  This wouldn’t be just a regular book club. The books would come with toys, lotions, and other fun goodies. We must take advantage of how turned on erotica and steamy romances make us, right?

Thus our done-for-you Pleasure Pairings became Bawdy Bookworms Boxes.
